New venue, a successful sale

THE South West Simmental Club settled into its new sales venue at Bristol with a top price of 2925gns for an entry from Boddington Estates herd at Cheltenham.

Sterling Maverick 2nd had earlier taken the reserve championship under judge Bob Lunness. Maverick 2nd is by Blackford Rory and out of a Sterling Dougal cow. He has a Beef Value of 25 and was bought by MJ and KM Boucher, Axbridge, Somerset.

A high ranking Beef Value of 37 added to the appeal of S Wakefields Oakhill Lennox from his herd at Frensham, Surrey. Lennox is by Salisbury Juggernaut and out of a cow by Brinkton Bonzo. Buyers at 2000gns were M and M Roberts, Hereford.

Priorton Lamplight, a son of Riversmeet Flare from John Mays herd at Crediton, Devon made 1500gns.

The sale kicked off with almost 40 females where bids reached 1600gns given by M and S Thomas, Malmesbury, Wilts for Crackely Cadette, a six-year-old cow by a son of Blackford Rory consigned by Booth and Bell of Kenilworth, Warks.

Glenrock Shebas youthful promise made 4000gns.

Beef Valueof 25 upped bids to 2925gns for Sterling Maverick 2nd.
