NFUS calls for investigation into milk pricing
THE MILK committee of the Scottish National Farmers Union (NFUS) has called on Scotlands government to investigate the milk marketing chain.
The call has been prompted by a 25% cut in the payment paid to producers but not corresponding reduction feeding through to customers.
The union said it was “astonished” by the recent report by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.
It will also be asking the government to explain why the report was against vertical integration in the sector.
