NFUS urges publication of milk report
THE National Farmers Union of Scotland is urging the government to publish the long-delayed report into milk marketing by the Competition (formerly Monopolies and Mergers) Commission.
The union has raised particular concerns about Milk Marques selling regime and the restrictions on co-ops processing members milk. It says this arrangement has been to allow the major buyers to drive down prices in England and Wales.
The union is also concerned over a possible delay in clearing the Date-based Export Scheme (DBES) in Brussels by the European Unions standing veterinary committee.
