NH Roll-Belt upgrades

RECENT trends towards higher bale densities in hay, straw and silage have led New Holland to introduce new, upgraded models of its Roll-Belt round balers.

The 648 produces 1.2m x 1.5m (4ft x 5ft) bales and replaces the 644 and 5950 while the 654 and 5980 are superseded by the 658, which makes a 1.2m x 1.8m (4ft x 6ft) bale.

Beefed-up components include pick-up drive chains, and floor rolls and belts, while chain idlers have an increased operating range and need less adjustment. Automatic chain oiling and the use of endless belts are designed to reduce maintenance.

Both new balers incorporate New Hollands established 1.94m (6.5ft) Super-Sweep pick up and its mechanical Auto-Wrap system, with the Bale-Command and Bale-Command Plus systems as options.

Additional standard equipment includes a spring-loaded bale ejector, 8-ply tyres and full road lighting.

Prices start at £15,510 for the 648 and £19,935 for the 658. &#42
