NI Beltex demand

NORTHERN Ireland Beltex breeders enjoyed a strong trade for stock at their recent Portadown show and sale.

Ballymena breeders Messrs Carson and Sons realised 1280gns for a second-prize winning ram lamb from their Downkillybegs flock. Buyer was David Brown, Bessbrook.

The same vendors also took the championship at the event with a ram lamb that made 1120gns selling to M Lynch, Dundalk, Co Louth.

The six Downkillybegs ram lambs averaged £716.

AVERAGES: 31 shearling rams £488, 45 ram lambs £409, 14 shearling ewes £448 and five ewe lambs £522. (Automart.) &#42
