NIAB new service

A NEW service from NIAB, to be launched at Cereals 2002, aims to upgrade variety and seeds advice given to growers through agronomists and consultants.

"It sets out to do for variety advice much of what BASIS does for agrochemicals," says information resources manager Paul Nelson.

The scheme, covering all combinable crops, potatoes, sugar beet and grasses, will also allow members to contribute to future decisions on regionally recommended varieties, he says.

The fee has yet to be determined, but there will be special discounts for groups of more than 10 members.
