Nice sheep, shame about the meat

FARMERS have been forced to abandon a scheme to breed a range of sheep with attractive, shapely bottoms and broad shoulders.

Tests have shown that the sheep – endowed with the Callipyge gene – are too tough to eat.

A sheep scientist with the Meat and Livestock Commission said the results of meat quality tests were so bad that supermarkets, food industry leaders and breed societies have agreed to abandon development of the breed.
