NITexel ewes reach 2200gns

THE two top Texel flocks in Northern Ireland – Clougher and Seneirl – staged their fourth joint sale of ewes at Portadown where prices reached 2200gns.

After a spate of spirited ringside bidding it was a determined telephone transaction that won the day for Louise Reid who successfully claimed the shearling ewe for her flock at Sleaforde.

The sale topper was rated as one of the best ewes ever offered for sale from Victor Chestnuts Clougher flock. She was by Chessy Batman and had been a winner at the Antrim, Ballymoney and Limavady shows last season. Service sire was the highly successful ram Seneirl Armos.

An embryo from one of the best ewes in Alan Cochranes Seneirl flock made 1000gns to Malcolm Reid, Omagh. (Automart)n
