No inspection army

ARMIES of inspectors will not be coming on to farms when the new Food Standards Agency (FSA) is launched, Geoffrey Podger, head of MAFFs joint food safety and standards group, has assured.

Mr Podger, who is involved in setting up the agency, said: "Although the agency has powers to act anywhere in the food chain, including farms, these are powers that are only used as a last resort. FSA will not be disrupting the lives of individual farmers." &#42
