Nominate a worthy person for a most prestigious title

THERE has never been a tougher year for the beleaguered livestock industry.

So it is even more important to celebrate the contributions of people who have revealed decisive leadership, innovation or dedication in the production and promotion of British meat.

The new award, known as the Royal Smithfield Club Bicentenary Trophy, sets out to do just that.

Last year, the award was won by Don Curry, former chairman of the MLC for his pioneering work in the promotion of British Meat.

If you know someone worthy of this years award, why not nominate him or her for this prestigious title. It could be a leading farmer, a prominent vet or butcher, plant breeder or animal nutritionist who has helped perfect cost-effective rations. The winner must be living and someone who has achieved the highest standards in British meat research, production or promotion.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the British Festival of Meat dinner in London. The winner will receive the Royal Smithfield Clubs Bicentenary Perpetual Trophy of an Armada dish set with 25 golden guineas, to keep for one year. &#42
