Northern Milk bonus…

DAIRY farmers supplying milk to the Northern Milk Partnership received a bonus that brought their payment for the trading period Nov – Mar to 1.2p/litre over Milk Marques average.

Announcing the bonus, which will be based on the compositional quality of milk, partnership chairman Richard Smith said it ensured NMP farmers were among the best paid in the country.

NMP producers received shares in Northern Foods last month, worth 0.55p/l to each producer. Combined with more efficient transport costs, the partnership had delivered on its original commitment to a first year premium of 1.2p/l over Milk Marque.

"At the end of the year when everyone sits down to examine their returns and the service they receive, the Northern Milk Partnership will be seen as a very competitive option," he said.
