On market in Somerset

A BRACE of Somerset farms will go under the hammer with Greenslade Taylor Hunt on Fri, Sept 21.

Both properties, one a commercial dairy enterprise, the other a smaller stock-rearing unit come to the market due to the present owners retirement.

Fernicaps Park Farm, Wiveliscombe, near Taunton, farmed by the vendor for the past 40 years, is currently home to the 125-head Crans pedigree Holstein Friesian herd and features a dairy complex that was constructed only two-and-a-half years ago.

Most of the land is grade 2 arable or pasture, and over 170 acres are IACS-registered. The principal dwelling is a four-bedroomed house constructed in 1937. A static, three-bedroomed mobile home is also included and the guide price is £700,000-800,000.

Half the price, and less than half the size, 65-acre Henley Farm, Payton, Wellington, comes with an attractive, modern, four-bedroomed dwelling erected in 1989.

The land presently supports 60 beef suckler cows and their followers, and is entirely ring fenced, bounded to the north by the River Tone. Just over 30 acres are IACS-registered and a good range of buildings is located on the periphery. &#42
