ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS

TO WIN A 110HP VALMET

TRACTOR WORTH £43,800

Heres your fourth chance to win a 110hp Valmet 8050

tractor worth £43,800 in our autumn competition. Study

the text over the next two weeks and pick your priorities

THE 110hp 8050, like all Valtra Valmet tractors, is designed as 4WD for maximum efficiency. The engine is placed well forward over the front axle and the transmission, hydraulics and cab are over the rear axle. This configuration results in a lightweight machine, ideally balanced for 4WDoperations.

The 35cm (14in) multiplate clutch is mounted to the engine with the transmissions driveshaft taken through the fuel tank, which also acts as part of the tractor frame, to the gearbox at the rear.

The 8050 is fitted with Valtras 36×36 fully-synchronised Delta Powershift transmission. The driver uses a combination of three gear shift levers to select the correct speed. On the right of the seat is the forward and reverse lever, ideally placed for shuttle operations. Next is the gear selection lever with four positions in the conventional &#42 formation while furthest to the right is the range selector with high, medium and low. The three-speed Delta Powershift is operated by an electronic button which is available on each lever.

Importantly, the Valmet 36-speed Delta Powershift transmission extends from creep speeds up to 40kph (25mph). The three Delta Powershift speeds in each gear, direct drive plus two overdrive ratios, overlap with the ratios of the next higher and lower gears to give maximum operating flexibility. Creep speeds are conveniently located in one range, field operating speeds in the middle range and transport speeds in the high range.

HiShift, an optional feature that avoids the use of the clutch pedal, is operated by pressing a button in the gear knob while selecting a gear. This automatically activates the clutch with the speed of re-engagement adjusted according to engine speed. HiShift also operates on range and direction changes, ideal for shuttle operations.

Standard PTO speeds are 540 and 1000 (540 and 750/540 economy is an option) with ground speed and heavy duty 1000 speeds available as additions. Speeds are selected manually by a lever on the drivers right with engagement and disengagement controlled electronically.

The lift linkage system is controlled by Autocontrol, one of the most user-friendly systems of its type. Once top and bottom limits are set, lifting and lowering is controlled by a simple switch. Other dials set drop speed and draft and position mix. The hydraulic pump provides a lift of 5600kg throughout the linkage lift arc and provides 73 litres/min at 190bar for external services. These are operated through two single/double acting spool valves with provision for a further two if required.

THEPRIZE

The prize is a 110hp Valmet 8050 4WD tractor, with 6-cylinder 6000cc engine, 5600kg lift capacity, air conditioning, air suspended seat and £43,800 price tag. Gearbox is a 36×36 unit, consisting of three ranges, four gears and three powershift gears.
