DELIVERED oilseed rape prices firmed slightly this week as processors finalised their pre-Christmas requirements.
However, there was little rapeseed reported to have been bought from the farm, noted a spokesman from the Home-Grown Cereals Authority.
All attention is now turning to the New Year when the imports of Australian canola are expected to enter the EU, he said. Original forecasts predicted that as much as 350,000 tonnes could be imported. But it is now expected to be lower, at 250,000 tonnes.
Delivered rapeseed values firmed slightly, with spot prices climbing £2 to £169.25/t. Futures values also rose this week, inching £1 to £171/t for January delivery.
UK linseed prices also firmed this week, on the back of strong demand from processors. Spot deliveries and January futures each climbed £1, to £146/t and £147/t.
