Painley heifer calf at 6200gns

A FIVE-MONTH-OLD heifer calf from one of the Holstein breeds most celebrated cow families sold for 6200gns during lively trading at the Borderway Black and White Sale at Carlisle.

Painley Leduc Kimo 46th, from John and Valerie Barlows herd in Cheshire, is a granddaughter of the legendary brood cow Primsland Inspiration Kimo and is out of the 17,397kg cow Painley Prelude Kimo. Kimo 46th, which has a PIN +£57 and PLI +£54, stays in Cheshire with R J and K M Barnett who run the Burwren herd at Wrenbury.

Lancashires Alan Swale sold an April-born calf at 6000gns to auctioneers Norton and Brooksbank acting for a client. Joylan Encore Ruth is by Marcrest Encore and out of Ards Wade J Ruth.

Indianhead Holsteins, in partnership with John Logan from Stirling, saw Indianhead Karen Frolic make 4000gns. This March-born entry by Margene Blackstar Fred is out of the 18,100kg B-M-Y Leadman Karen. Buyer was M McLean, Co Tyrone.
