Pakistan bumper rice crop headache

PAKISTAN is expected to harvest a bumper crop of 4.7 million tonnes of rice this year – against last years 4.3m tonnes.

But Pakistans rice exporters are not happy.

They are already complaining about the price of domestic rice which, they say, is significantly higher than that offered by other suppliers such as Vietnam.

This could mean Pakistan losing exports to particular markets, such as the African countries.
