Partridge dispersal

TWO newly-established herds in Shropshire were seeking foundation stock at the dispersal of the Cumbria-based Partridge Limousin herd at Carlisle.

The sale, following the Johnson familys decision to emigrate to New Zealand, saw a top of 3150gns. This was paid for Partridge Fenella, a six-year-old by Rachels Dirk and sold with a heifer calf at foot by Broadmeadows Cannon. She was taken by E Evans for his new herd at Llanymynech.

Mr Evans also gave the second highest price of 2700gns for a Vaga-bond cow suckling a Cannon heifer.

W B Steel, Whitchurch, is also setting up a new herd and took six head including Partridge Hazel, a Broadmeadows Tombola daughter with a Dyfri Grandprix calf at foot.

AVERAGES: 26 cows £1976; 14 served, maiden and yearling heifers £1275; nine young bulls £1306 and stock bull £1680. (Harrison and Hetherington.) &#42
