Pasturefields make top

CATTLE from the Pasturefields herd of Midlands breeder Roger Birch made the two top prices at last weekends Premier Simmental sale at Towcester, Northants.

At 5000gns and 4600gns, both were from the herds famous Princess family. Pasturefields Princess Fuchsia came out on top selling to E Kublin, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. This two-year-old maiden heifer is out of the winning cow Pasturefields Princess and by Sacombe Wishful Thinking.

Another of her daughters, the show winning in-calf heifer, Pasturefields Princess Elizabeth, made the second highest price to B and L R Jones, Abergele. She is by Milnafua Batman and was AId in April to Woodhall Dynamite.

Despite over 50% of the cattle on offer being recently served or maiden heifers, buyers bidding was a demonstration of long-term confidence in the breed.

David and Pauline Barkers Heywood herd from Taunton, Somerset, sold their successful show heifer Heywood Fantastic 11th to G Chedgey, Bridgwater. Another Wishful Thinking daughter, she was carrying an exciting prospect by Brinkton Brilliant.
