Pesticide action plan
DEPARTMENT of the Environment officials called a meeting of spray manufacturers, users and advisers on Wednesday to draw up a pesticides action plan.
It was the first move to implement recommendations in last weeks DoE/MAFF Rural White Paper.
The action plan will seek to encourage widespread use of techniques to minimise pesticide use and promote the techniques through better training and advice. It will examine how best to promote opportunities provided by new technology and research and will introduce a system of annual progress reports to the Pesticides Advisory Committee.
