Pig holding is lotted into six

A PIG unit in south Lincs around a village now is on the market in six lots giving local farmers and neighbours an opportunity to buy some small blocks of land.

At Gedney Hill, near Peterborough the 98-acre Hillgate Farm is currently used for pig breeding purposes and includes a three-bedroom bungalow subject to an agricultural occupancy condition and 400t of grain storage.

"The farmyard may have potential for an alternative use subject to the necessary planning permission," said Jim Bryant, Bidwells, handling the sale.

The land is classified grade 2 silt and clay and is suited to cereal and combinable cropping. Mr Bryant is guiding it at about £2222/acre.

In lots the steading and 22 acres is guided at £140,000, a 5.5-acre field – £10,000 and 27 acres at £60,000.

"The smaller lots around the village may well attract interest from buyers other than farmers," he said.
