Pig industry under attack
SUPPORT by a columnist in The Independent for the pig industry gets short shrift from a vegetarian campaigner given a right of reply.
Tony Wardle, deputy director of Vegetarians International Voice for Animals (VIVA!), describes pig units as “brutal, factory farming pure and simple”.
He suggests pigs “suffer a string of diseases virtually from the day theyre born.”
He ends by expressing satisfaction that the pig industry is in crisis.
