Pig vigil – a gift

PIG producers manning a round-the-clock vigil outside the House of Commons delivered a wheelbarrow of pig manure to 10 Downing Street this week.

Vigil organiser David Graham said the delivery was a "gift" for Tony Blair to use in his garden and would show him the pig farmers are "here and are not going away until we get the help we deserve from him."

"The manure is the inevitable result of having a pig in Parliament Square. It was a present from us to him and now we want a present back," he said.

He was delighted with the extensive media coverage of the vigil, which is designed to raise the profile of the industrys plight and to pressurise the government into providing aid.
