Piggy holidays for school leavers

Bishop Burton college in Yorkshire is planning to offer free piggy holidays to school leavers this summer.

Livestock training

development officer and former pig farmer, Paul Rhodes, says the college is hoping to attract more young people to train for work in the pig industry.

"We are looking for people who are already on the fringes of agriculture – perhaps those who help out on pig farms at weekends," he says.

"The aim is for them to have fun, but also to gain an insight into the industry and find out what courses and jobs are on offer."

The first week-long course is due to start in July and anyone interested should telephone Mr Rhodes on 01964-553113.
