Piglet iron jabs a thing of the past

PIGLET iron injections are no longer necessary thanks to Alltech Nutri-Iron, claims Hanco National Pig Supplies.

It says the acidified liquid, which contains molasses and glucose, is drunk readily by piglets from birth onwards and helps to increase piglet survival. Nutri-Iron is also said to stimulate piglet creep feed intakes.

The liquid lowers stomach pH encouraging beneficial bacteria and so reducing nutritional or E coli scours in the piglets, adds Hanco.

Nutri-Iron is given as a 3% solution to suckling piglets and at 2% post-weaning. It costs £21.50 for five litres (01432-860518).
