Plans to boost Highlands sheep strategy
PLANS are afoot to double the number of producers involved in the Highland & Islands sheep strategy.
The £1.1 million initiative, which was launched at last years Royal Highland Show, aims to improve the financial control of the regions hill sheep producers.
The initiative hopes to boost profits for farmers by using technologies such as recording, muscle and fat scanning, and artificial insemination.
So far, 120 producers have signed up to participate in the strategy which was formed at a time of low prices and increasing demands for better quality sheep.
