THE seasonal warnings regarding the potential scarcity and higher prices for plastic baler twine, stretch film and netwrap have arrived.
UAT says a steady rise in the cost of raw materials since the start of the year will see the price of packaging products rise significantly.
The firm also says that many makers have found it hard to get the volume of raw material required to fulfil their orders, fuelling even greater price rises.
UAT has increased the price of PP baler twine by 10%, stretch film by 7% and netwrap by 5%, with the threat of further rises when old stock has been sold. There is also the suggestion that shortages could result in some suppliers having limited product volume. *
