Plenty of water…
PIG producers, especially those with stock outdoors, are being urged to ensure pigs receive adequate water. The warning follows higher- than-average salt poisoning after the recent cold snap.
"When it was very cold there was little water going to some units, particularly those outdoors, due to frozen pipes," says Dr Tony Andrews of the Royal Vet College.
Producers who avoided difficulties had water bowsers on stand-by or other ways of ensuring adequate supplies.
