A farmer’s spaniel dog and an off-road vehicle were stolen during a burglary on a farm in Essex.

Thieves broke into an outbuilding at Pattiswich Hall Farm, an arable farm in Coggeshall, between 6.30pm on 28 October and 7am the following day.

They took a green Polaris Ranger off-road vehicle, more than £16,000 worth of gardening equipment – and the occupant’s brown-and-white springer spaniel.

Police believe a horsebox seen in the area at about 3am on 29 October was suspected of being used to transport the Ranger.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Ben Andrews at Braintree on 101.
