Powerful Vario is launched in UK

FENDT has finally launched the 926 Vario tractor in the UK with the intention of selling some 30 units next year, says importer Bonhill Engineering.

With 260hp under its bonnet and a price tag well in excess of £100,000, the Vario is perhaps not everyones first choice but for mechanical innovation in its transmission department, it must surely capture the interest of all.

Fendt has developed a transmission which provides stepless gear changes and enables the optimum gear to be selected for any given task. Described as a combination of hydrostatic and mechanical, its main attribute is to enable peak engine horsepower to be matched to forward speed. Bonhill reports that two models already working in the UK have performed "above expectations".n
