Pre-wash for spuds…

POTATOES and vegetables can be washed in preparation for processing, says Peal Engineering, with its latest Pro Wash system.

It uses an inclined Continental web elevator with overhead spray bars. The web feeds on to 16 rows of brushes where more overhead spray bars continue the cleaning process, which are followed by three rows of rubber covered rollers to disperse the cleaning water.

Collected water is put through a wire screen and series of weirs to remove sludge and debris before it is recirculated back to the spray bars.
