Pregnancy upped

REPLACE dairy cow wash-outs with two prostaglandin injections to increase pregnancy rate by 10%, reports Hoards Dairyman.

These improvements occurred when the first injection of prostaglandin was given 25 to 32 days post calving and the second 39 to 46 days post calving.

Overall conception rates to first AI were unchanged compared with single prostaglandin injections and wash-outs.

The increases in pregnancy rate were attributed to greater synchronisation which improved heat detection.
