Price increase for Cargills AN
CARGILL has raised the price of its own-label 34.5% ammonium nitrate, Olympia, to a quoted £118/t delivered in July or August and paid in December.
This follows an initial offer last week of £115/t delivered. But the new level, which is being viewed as something of a benchmark, is still £4 less than the main UK manufacturers were pushing for at this weeks Royal Show.
ICI commercial manager, Stuart Beer, whose company is making the Cargill product to the same specification as Nitram, had said he expected the market to start at £122/t and rise to a "moderate" £135/t over the coming season. Upward pressure on costs and the tighter European market had already pushed Nitram values to over £130/t in France, he said. *
