Primor spreader throws at right rate for the job

SWELLING the number of mechanised feeder and bedding machines available to UK farmers is Kuhn Farm Machinery.

The trailed Primor 3560 has a 3.5cu m capacity and has been designed to handle two 1.6m diameter round bales or one large square bale. Additional carrying capacity is available through use of the units lowered tail gate.

When feeding silage, material is delivered via a side chute having a discharge height of up to 1.9m (6ft 4in). For bedding operations, straw can either be spread from the same chute – up to 18m – or via a 2.75m (9ft 2in) chute which can be rotated through 310 degrees. This latter device can throw straw up to a distance of 12m, says the manufacturer.

For loading, a rear door is lowered to allow it to be reversed under a bale. Raising the door places the bale in the chamber – a hydraulically driven chain and slat system draws the bale into the beater rotor.

The pto powered Primor has a gearbox which can be set to allow the rotor to turn at two different speeds – a slower rate for silage and a faster rate when straw spreading. Power requirement is set at about 60hp.

Price of the Primor 3560, complete with side chute and rotating chute is listed at £10,995. &#42
