Profile of outgoing NFUS president
THE SCOTSMAN profiles Allan Murray, outgoing president of the Borders area of the National Farmers Union of Scotland.
Mr Murray steps down with regrets: he would have like to have seen the union more pro-active than reactive.
But he remains sanguine about the future. He believes co-operation could be the key to keeping smaller family units afloat.
Mr Murray says it has taught him and his colleagues the discipline needed to create the end product.
Mr Murray is taking up a position as Scottish director of the pressure group Countryside Alliance.
