Promising way to raise cash

NEATH & District YFC is Glamorgan federations top club. It crowned several recent successes by winning the county round of the club of the year competition and now looks forward to competing for the Welsh Club of the Year title at the Royal Welsh Show. MEMBERS of Gillingham & Shaftesbury YFC, Wilts are busy fulfilling their promises. The club raised £4000 for charity by the auction of promises conducted by John Woolley (pictured with the members above) of Woolley & Wallis, at the Grosvenor Hotel, Shaftesbury. The 90 lots ranged from a visit to the House of Commons to a chocolate Easter egg and included many services provided by the members themselves – such as washing cars and ironing.

The money will be used by Lupus UK for publicity and research into lupus, a disease which breaks down the bodys immune system and attacks its healthy tissue. There are more than 30,000 lupus sufferers in the UK, 90% of them women.
