Push industry at local level
ENCOURAGING farmers to get involved in promoting the farming industry at a local level is one of the key aims of a new NFU public relations committee.
The committee, set up in response to a Meeting Members Expectations report, held its first meeting at NFU HQ on June 12.
Ahead of the meeting, NFU PR manager Simon Rayner, said the committee would be different to the one which was disbanded more than two years ago.
"The purpose of the committee is to come up with a long-term strategy," he said.
Priorities would be devising public communication campaigns and trying to work out ways to mobilise farmers into taking part in promotional activities at a local level, he added. *
