Race on to lead Scots NFU

GEORGE LYONS chair at the National Farmers Union of Scotland is still warm but already the race is on to succeed him.

Vice-president Peter Chapman declared his hand yesterday but is hedging his bets.

Mr Chapman said he would still be prepared to serve as vice-president if he did not get the top job.

More coy was Jim Walker, also expected to throw his hat into the ring, who declined to comment about his leadership chances.
