Ragwort culprits

LACK of attention by local authorities is to blame for an increase in the amount of the poisonous weed ragwort, especially on roadsides, according to a recent survey.

A Royal Agricultural Society of England survey of its members revealed that 78% had noted an increase in the amount of ragwort in their area in the past five years.

Suggestions of how to prevent the further spread of the weed to farmland include encouraging local authorities to abide by the current regulations and investigating new control methods. &#42
