IN a week which saw swathers move into the first oilseed rape crops in the Midlands and east, prices slumped a further £3/t.

Ex-farm prices now range from £102-£108/t. This harvests first supplies in the Midlands are worth £104/t, says Group Cereal Services Simon Ward.

“And the carry for deliveries in November is £5-£6/t with the prospect of a big harvest from Europe. There is too much oil world-wide.”

Further north, Dalgetys Keith Gallworthy suggests ex-farm supplies in the north of Scotland will be trading for £95/t, a far cry from the £150/t last November.
