Record apple crop for New Zealand

THE New Zealand Apple and Pear Board is attempting to sell the biggest ever harvest in the face of a global glut, reports the Financial Times.

Thanks to excellent growing conditions, orchardists have produced an export crop now estimated at 17.8m cartons, 1.8m more than estimated.

The board is calling for action to address imbalance and overproduction in the global industry.
