MAFF has announced that Feb 27 is the first of six dates in 2000 which will be used to check numbers of bovine livestock units on farms claiming standard extensification payments.
Beef producers will receive the first declaration forms in July, which they must complete and return to their local agricultural department office. Producers who wish to participate in the scheme must state this on their IACS area aid application form for 2000, says the ministry.
Payment rates in 2000 are £41.36 a head below 1.6 LUs/ha, and half that amount up to and including 2LUs/ha. *
