Redesigned cab lets Herdsman into tight spots

By Andy Collings

A NEW model and a new cab. Renaults Herdsman range of tractors, aimed at the stock farmer, now includes the 76hp 80-14.

Existing models – the 52hp 55-12 and 55-14 and the 67hp 70-12 and 70-14 – will also benefit from a new cab design. Similar in style to the Spacial cab fitted to the larger Ceres tractors, it enables an overall tractor height of just 2.29m (90in) to be achieved.

Sufficient cab head height is achieved by moving filter and ventilation blower units to the rear of the cab, their more conventional position being replaced by a transparent ceiling panel.

Renault is keen to point out that a feeling of ample space is also induced through the use of full-length glass doors.

As for the new model itself, the four-wheel-drive 80-14 is powered by a Deutz engine driving through a three-range, 12 x 12 box. A dashboard-mounted shuttle reversing lever is a standard feature.

Other specification includes Cat I and II three-point linkage and a hydraulic system rated at 35 litres/min at 180 bar. Pto options extend to 750rpm economy, 540rpm and ground speed proportional operation.

Price of the Renault 80-14 Herdsman, fitted with 16.9 x 30 rear tyres, starts at £22,200. &#42
