Resuscitator gives a breath of life…

A NEW lamb resuscitator will save lambs born with a heart beat but not breathing says manufacturer Ritchey Tagg.

Five to 10 pumps with the piston-action Breath of Life resuscitator inflates the lungs to stimulate breathing and gets oxygen into the bloodstream fast, says the company.

The unit comprises a telescopic pump and a mask with rubber membrane, which seals around the muzzle. The resuscitator draws air in through induction valves at one end and directs it via a regulator valve and the face mask into the animal, while the bi-directional valve allows animals to exhale without removing the mask.

The resuscitator costs £25 (01765-689541).
