Review for Farm Business Tenancies

By FWi staff

THE government is to review the impact of Farm Business Tenancies next year.

Junior farm minister Elliot Morley promised the review during a meeting with Reg Haydon, chairman of the Tenant Farmers Association.

Mr Haydon said he was delighted by the news, as it was something the TFA had been pushing the government to do for some time.

“I am delighted that the minister is now to fulfil the commitment given by the Labour party when in opposition to review Farm Business Tenancies five years from their introduction,” he said.

There are a number of aspects about the legislation of concern to the TFA.

These include short lengths of term, tight user clauses and other legislative restrictions.

“This is good news for tenants and landlords and we look forward to on-going discussions with the minister and his officials as the review gets underway,” said Mr Haydon.
