Revival for linseed on way?

LINSEED is set for a revival, reversing the big downturn in production in recent years, says MAFF oilseeds specialist Alison Blackburn.

New winter linseed varieties which allow earlier harvesting, a resolution of the crops position in the arable area payments scheme, exclusion from the Blair House agreement on oilseeds production and the fact that the crop is already traded at world market prices, all spell a rosy future, she says. That will provide industrial users with a stable source of both linoleic and linolenic acid for processing.
