Rooker attacks poultry producers on salmonella levels

POULTRY producers are not doing enough to reduce levels of salmonella in chickens, Jeff Rooker, the food safety minister told the annual lunch of the British Poultry Meat Federation in London.

He said that although levels of salmonella had been reduced it was not good enough.

Producers accused the Government of failing to protect the public from sub-standard imports.
