Rural police offered wheels

POLICE ARE being offered a Land Rover and a mountain bike by a farmer who is concerned about the level of crime in his area.

Clive Hay-Smith, who farms at Sheringham in Norfolk, told a public meeting that a four-day illegal rave had been held on his land and equipment worth 3000 had been stolen from one of his buildings.

He also complained about the lack of visible police presence at a time when vandalism and problems caused by “boy racers” were growing.

Mr Hay-Smith said he was prepared to donate a Land Rover and a mountain bike to help Norfolk Constabulary police the area.

He was unavailable for comment this week but his brother, Nigel, said: “He just wants to do something to help the community.”
