Russian aid to resume

EU food aid to Russia is to resume after a recent summit meeting.

Russian delegates apparently backed down on demands which halted proceedings three weeks ago, including one for higher-quality produce.

The deal includes 1m tonnes of wheat, 150,000t of beef and 100,000t of pigmeat. Tenders were under way for more than a quarter of the wheat and a third of the pigmeat when the deal foundered.

Pigmeat tenders were reopened this week, and have to be lodged by 8 March. Cereal tenders are also expected to restart soon.
