SAC to help Romania get ready for EU

THE SAC, in partnership with the Ministries of Agriculture of the UK, Holland and Germany has been awarded an 8 million contract (4.88m) for two development projects in Romania.

The SAC will spend two years in Romania from early 2001 advising on preparations for the countrys entry into the EU.

The first project, in conjunction with Romanias Ministry of Agriculture, will provide support for policy development in the agricultural, rural and food sectors.

The second project aims to improve the capabilities of the Romanian veterinary service to enforce and observe veterinary standards in line with EU legislation.
