Sainsbury’s in £multi-million organic milk deal

SAINSBURYS has made a multi-million pound commitment to the organic movement with a five-year deal involving milk.

The chain needs supplies from 100 extra farmers to meet demand.

Some 70 “conventional” farmers have been invited to a meeting in Honiton, Devon, to hear details of the offer.

Andrew Freestone, the supermarket chains milk buyer, reports demand for organic milk has accelerated.

Marks & Spencer has also pledged to extend its organic food range with a selection of bread and dairy products.
